I’ve been unable to really post for the last three days but here I am to update you!

I left Colorado that morning around 6:30 MDT from my grandparents’ cabin in Westcliffe, Colorado. Thankfully it was not raining. It rained pretty much the entire time I was there, either all day or in the afternoon. No complaints from me at all though. Los Angeles never gets rain so it was refreshing…literally. I didn’t get much sleep because, well…I had Brussels sprouts for dinner and if you’ve ever eaten Brussels sprouts, then you know they can cause discomfort, pain, gas, etc.
Because of this, I was a bit tired. In Pueblo, Colorado, I stopped for gas and a few snacks on my way out of town then I hit the road! This was going to be a 14 hour trip minimum so I needed to pace myself for the marathon. I was in Colorado for about four hours before I hit Kansas. Good ol’ Kansas. Nothing there, Kansas. Drive for hours and see farms, Kansas. I had no idea what Kansas would be like, but there was nothing to look at except these neat old farms and towns that one could drive through in five minutes. Everything in between was “sleep city”. I couldn’t wait to get to Topeka and Kansas City. Once I arrived there I knew I wouldn’t have much further to go.
With the combination of traffic, road work (in Kansas), and food/gas stops, I ended up getting to my aunt’s house in St. Louis around 22:20 CDT. About a 16 hour day on the road. I was exhausted. Hence, this “catch up” post I’m writing.

On Wednesday, I woke up surprisingly early around 7:00 CDT. I needed to work and wrap up some of the smaller things for a specific app. Around 17:00 CDT, my aunt’s wife and I sat down and had a glass of wine. I love being here around them. They offer such unique insight and stories, especially being two women married in St. Louis. They both have lived in many places including Los Angeles and New Mexico. My aunt is also an Aquarius so I feel like I’ve always had a innate connection to her ever since I was young. Shortly after popping open a bottle of Cocobon Wine, my aunt came home from work. They made street style chicken tacos and we all ate, talked, and drank more wine.
After that, they put on their slideshow from Italy, per my request. Such an amazing place I hope to get to soon! It was a good night.

Got some work done today! Now I’m working on my family tree on my dad’s mother’s side – Nana. The Gamble family. Some of you may have heard of Gamble & Huff BKA International Sound of Philadelphia. We’ve managed to trace back to Nana’s grandparents! This is a feat since record keeping for black people wasn’t the best in the 19th and early 20th century.
